About Trail Equity
Why Outdoor Learning Matters?
Spending time in nature significantly benefits children's mental and emotional well-being. According to the Child and Adolescent Services Research Center at UC San Diego, community-based behavioral health services, including outdoor activities, play a crucial role in supporting children's development and mental health. Additionally, a study by the American Institutes for Research found that participation in outdoor education programs enhances students' conflict resolution skills and cooperation. Despite these benefits, access to outdoor learning experiences is not equitable, particularly for homeschool families who may lack structured programs and resources. Our Trail Equity Scholarship aims to bridge this gap, ensuring all children have the opportunity to learn and grow through nature.
