About the event

Step into the role of a Nature Detective as we explore Cowles Mountain! On this interactive hike, kids will learn how to identify animal clues like tracks, feathers, scat, and burrows to uncover the hidden stories of local wildlife. Through hands-on activities, sketching, and group problem-solving, students practice observation, critical thinking, and storytelling — all while connecting science to the natural world. Designed for homeschool families, this hike blends outdoor adventure with engaging lessons in ecology, art, and discovery.

10:00 – 10:15 a.m. | Introduction: Become a Nature Detective
Kids receive a “Detective Challenge Card” (with space for drawings/notes).
Brief talk about how scientists use evidence to learn about wildlife.
