Tecolote Canyon offers a diverse landscape right in the heart of the city, making it a perfect spot for young adventurers to explore. The trail winds through riparian habitats, coastal sage scrub, and chaparral, giving children a firsthand look at Southern California’s native ecosystems. Educational Focus: We’ll discuss the role of watersheds in urban environments and observe the local flora, including Tecolote’s famous coast live oak trees and California sagebrush. Kids will also learn about the importance of native plants in supporting local wildlife.
